About the Committee

In 2006, the Society of Counseling Psychology (SCP) established an Early Career Professionals (ECP) Committee to provide support to those who are in the first 10 years of their career in counseling psychology: in particular, to represent and communicate the unique interests and concerns of ECP members to SCP leadership, to facilitate a pathway for ECPs to enter SCP leadership, and to provide guidance to graduating students to transition to ECPs.

The ECP Committee has since gain a voting seat on the SCP Executive Board via the ECP Chair, and has been dedicated to its aims to:

  • Provide resources relevant to ECP work and life
  • Foster a home base for ECPs within the society
  • Create opportunities to connect with other SCP members
  • Facilitate ECP leadership in the society and in APA
  • Elevate the visibility and excellence of ECPs
