Vice President for Education and Training Biography

Heidi Hutman, PhD
Term: 2025-2028

As faculty at Temple University, I train master’s level clinicians to provide culturally responsive care. I currently serve as Chair of the Membership Board of the American Psychological Association where I represent the Education Slate. I am also the co-chair of the International Interdisciplinary Conference on Clinical Supervision. Within SCP, I have served as co-chair of the Student Affiliates of Seventeen, Chair of the Membership Committee, Faculty Mentor for the Leadership Collaborative, and Chair of the Section on Supervision and Training. These experiences have collectively positioned me to be impactful in the VP role.

As the child of immigrants whose education was disrupted by the Holocaust, my family taught me that education empowers and liberates. As VP for Education and Training, I would uphold these SCP values by: 1) continuing to advocate for master’s level training and the protection of Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) funding, 2) offering training opportunities that center social justice, structural competence, and uprooting anti-black racism, and 3) creating spaces where folx can process how the political climate is impacting education and training. I am excited about this opportunity to advance SCP’s efforts to live its values out loud in the education and training sphere
