Six New Counseling Psychologists Achieve Board Certification in October 2016


The American Board of Counseling Psychologist is pleased to announce that six new Counseling Psychologists are board certified, having successfully passed the oral examination in College Station, TX in October 2016.

Beecher, PhD, ABPP, is a Clinical Professor/Licensed Psychologist with a joint appointment in Brigham Young University’s (BYU) Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Counseling Psychology and Special Education department. He completed his PhD in BYU’s Counseling Psychology program and has been full-time at BYU since 1997, working in the University Accessibility Center and in CAPS before obtaining his current joint appointment. Professionally, his research interests include individual and group psychotherapy, multiculturalism, and disability issues.

Bikos, PhD, ABPP, is Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychology, Family, and Community at Seattle Pacific University.  She teaches statistics, research methods, and psychometrics courses in the Clinical and Industrial-Organizational psychology doctoral programs; her research falls at the intersections of vocational, international, and positive psychology.  She has served on the editorial boards of the Career Development Quarterly, Journal of Career Development, and Journal of Counseling Psychology and is an editor mentor for International Perspectives in Psychology.  She is a fellow of the Western Psychological Association.

Official Air Force Image: Major Joel Foster Bio PhotoDr. Joel Foster is Chief, Air Force Deployment Mental Health. He directs the Disaster Mental Health mission for 2,000 providers across 77 installations, and provides oversight to the psychological health research portfolio of $179M.  Dr. Foster received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas in 2002 and was an Assistant Professor before accepting a commission into the USAF. Dr. Foster recently served as the Mental Health Flight Commander and Deputy Squadron Commander, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.

 

drderekgriner2016photoDerek Griner, PhD, ABPP, is a licensed psychologist and holds a joint faculty appointment with Counseling and Psychological Services and the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at Brigham Young University (BYU).  Derek is committed to furthering knowledge surrounding diversity, has conducted clinical work and research in this domain, and received APA’s Division 17 Outstanding Contribution to Scholarship on Race & Ethnicity Award as well as APA’s Jeffrey S. Tanaka Memorial Dissertation Award in Psychology.

karen-y-tsukada-headshotKaren Tsukada, Ph.D., ABPP is a licensed psychologist who works at the University of Delaware’s (UD) Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD). In addition to her CCSD appointment, she was a faculty member in UD’s Master of Arts Program in Counseling in Higher Education for many years. She earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the Ohio State University and she is passionate about diversity, women’s issues, group therapy, and supervision. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at CCSD.
