The Special Interest Group for Sex-Positivity in Counseling Psychology seeks to provide resources assisting counseling psychologist educators, clinicians and researchers with the integration of a sex-positive framework that takes into consideration the importance of intersectionality and socio-political context into their training, practice, and scholarship.
Further, given our counseling psychology values emphasizing social justice, wellness, and resilience, the SIG would advocate for the inclusion of sex-positive human sexuality training as a necessary component of doctoral level curricula as well as ongoing continuing education for counseling psychologists, and others working in health service psychology.
