At Last: A Wedding For Us All!!!
We are planning a group wedding at the 2009 APA
Convention. Because it is in Toronto (Yes, that's
Canada), marriage is legal for same-sex couples as well as
opposite-sex couples. For more information on being in
the wedding, attending the festivities, or donating to the
cause, please click here.
Important Announcement about participating in the wedding.
Due to a number of requests, we have been able to arrange
for two ways to participate in the wedding ceremony in
Toronto on August 6th. We also still have scholarships
available for students on a first come first served basis.
1. If you would like to be legally married, you will need
to make sure you have a marriage license in advance through
the Toronto City Hall. Here is a link to how to go about
getting the license before the ceremony.

You should know that if you have ever been married, you
will have to have your divorce certified through an Ontario
lawyer prior to being legally re-married in Ontario. A
lawyer who was recommended to us was
Michael Battista 416-203-2899.
We will have a legal officiant present who can do the
necessary steps to finalize the legal parts of the
documentation. If you would like to be legally married, and
you have your marriage license, we will meet at the wedding
location prior to the ceremony at 6 pm with the officiants
to get the
2. If you want to participate in the ceremony, but for a
whole host of reasons do not need or want to be legally
married in Canada, you may do that as well. Many people
have contacted us who would LOVE to be in the wedding, but
are either already married, have been divorced before, don't
want to be legally married in Canada because they want to do
this in the US at a later time, etc. You can still enjoy
and participate in this celebration of your relationship.
Just let Jen Weiner know so we can plan for you. RSVP to
jlw154@gmail.com
This is going to be a very special night to celebrate love
and to join forces for marriage equality.
Make sure you don't miss out!

Programming this year will be excellent. Shana Hamilton,
programming chair, has worked hard on putting together a
fantastic collection of offerings for our section. Several
of our programs are designed to complement the presidential
initiative of Dr. Helms, Taking Action Against Racism.
Additionally, Theo Burnes, who is chairing the supervision
and training area of our strategic plan has taken the lead
on planning a mentoring breakfast for the section this year.
Plan to join us in Toronto if you can...you won't be sorry.
