Please join us at the 125th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association which is held from August 3-August 6, 2017 in Washington D.C.! Below are programs and presentations sponsored by the International Section of Counseling Psychology.

ICP Sponsored Programs

Thursday, August 3, 2017 

8:00-10:00 AM International Scholars Welcome & Orientation Breakfast, at City Tap House DC (901 9th Street Washington DC 20001). The Section will host our annual Welcome & Orientation Breakfast meeting to greet international scholars and attendees.

10 AM-12 PM International Mentoring & Orientation Committee (IMOC) Annual Roundtable Discussions (Div. 17 Hospitality Suite at Fellowship Hall of Mont Vernon Place United Methodist Church). IMOC will hold the annual roundtable discussions to provide professional mentoring to international counseling psychology students as well as U.S. students interested in careers with an international focus.

3:00-3:50 PM Division 17 Section Sponsored Roundtables (Convention Center, East Salon C, Street Level) The International Section will independently sponsor two roundtables titled, “Immigration Barriers and Challenges of International Practitioners” and “Interdisciplinary Partnership and Cultural Competence in Working with International Students” and co-sponsor one roundtable titled with “Immigrants and Social Justice: What Can Immigrant Practitioners and American Psychology Do?” with the Professional Practice Section.

5:00-5:50 PM Division 17 Student Poster Session ((Marriot Marquis Hotel, Marquis Salon 5). The Section will co-sponsor the SCP/CCPTP/SAS Student Poster session. We had many strong submissions. Our Section will present three student posters.

Friday, August 4, 2017 

2:00-4:00 PM Joint Networks Meeting (Div. 17 Hospitality Suite at Fellowship Hall of Mont Vernon Place United Methodist Church). The international psychology network groups (e.g., Japanese, Korean, and Taiwan Psychology Network and Association of Chinese Helping Professionals and Psychologists) will hold their joint meeting as a base for international collaboration. There are more Network groups in the process of being formed in the Section, and new Network group members are welcome to attend!

11AM-12 PM International Psychology Practitioners Committee (IPPC) Annual Meeting (Div. 17 Hospitality Suite at Music Room of Mont Vernon Place United Methodist Church) IPPC will hold its annual meeting on the issue of immigration challenges for international practitioners.

11AM-12 PM International Psychology Faculty Committee (Div. 17 Hospitality Suite at B102 of Mont Vernon Place United Methodist Church). This newly established Faculty Committee will hold its first in-person meeting for social connection and mentoring of early career international faculties.

12:00-1:00 PM The International Section Business Meeting (Div. 17 Hospitality Suite at B102 of Mont Vernon Place United Methodist Church). We will hold our Section Business Meeting for our members
