APA Convention, San Francisco, Aug 27 2007

The International Mentoring and Orientation Meeting was held in Royal Suite (Division 17 Hospitality Suite) at Palace Hotel on August 17, 2007.

After a brief greeting by Dr. Linda Forrest, the president of Div. 17, Dr. Jeeseon Park (McGill University) introduced the IMOC, its mentoring program, and ways to maximize APA [Link to Tips for maximizing your experience at APA.doc] experiences. Then, approximately 20 attendees broke into roundtable discussions on the following 4 topics

The roundtable discussions were productive; the student attendees had an ample opportunity to discuss the unique challenges of international students, and to ask questions to the facilitators who are themselves former international students. The facilitators provided them with valuable tips that were based on their experiences.
