Proposed Prevention Guidelines for Psychologists
A Work Group of Prevention Section members (see list below) as well as others continue to develop a set of Prevention Guidelines for Psychologists that we plan to eventually forward to APA governance for approval as officially sanctioned APA guidelines. The Work Group has conducted several meetings over the last few years, and continue to develop the Guidelines through electronic discussions. APA committees have given initial feedback on the original paper on which the Guidelines are based [consult The Counseling Psychologist, July 2007, 35(4)]. Work Groups are working on the next draft of the Guidelines which we plan to present to APA governance for another review in January 2010. Dr.Terry Gock is serving as a consultant to the Guidelines Work Group. Members are urged to get involved in the process by selecting a section of the Guidelines and contacting one of the leaders of that section.

The following are members of the Works Group:

Introduction: Sally Hage and John Romano
Practice: Maureen Kenny and Kris Varjas
Education: Bob Conyne, Connie Matthews, Andy Horne, Anneliese Singh
Research: Jon Schwartz, Mike Waldo, Ellen Vaughan
Social Advocacy: Sally Hage, John Romano, Joel Wong
