MARRIAGE, FAMILY, & CHILD COUNSELING PROGRAM (MFCC)

Assistant Professor
tenure track position in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling.
The Department of Counseling is a large, comprehensive counselor
education program with over 30 full-time and part-time faculty
members. It is a leader in the area of accreditation and program
development. Many faculty members hold leadership positions in
state, regional, national, and international organizations. The MFCC
program has approximately 150 enrolled students, one half of the
department's graduate students. Graduates of the MFCC program are
eligible to register in California as Marriage & Family Therapist
Interns and subsequently apply to become licensed psychotherapists.
The department faculty is dedicated to strengthening educational
experiences for our students through a diverse faculty and student
body.
San Francisco State University, a member of the California State

Commensurate with experience.

Desired
qualifications:
·
An
earned doctorate from an accredited program in Counselor Education,
Counseling/Clinical Psychology, or closely related field.
·
A
minimum of 2 years counseling experience.
·
Evidence of university teaching excellence.
·
Potential to lead the MFCC program.
·
Expertise in family therapy, marital therapy, and individual
psychotherapy required.
·
A
strong record of scholarship and professional activities, with a
clear research agenda.
·
Ability to supervise graduate level students.
·
Demonstrated dedication to multicultural education (e.g., GLBT,
ethnic groups, class, and disability status).
·
Additional expertise in one or more of the following preferred:
women and mental health, child treatment, psychopharmacology, law
and ethics in counseling and MFCC, human sexuality, and alcohol and
substance abuse.
·
Licensure/licensure eligibility as a MFCC counselor or psychologist.
Responsibilities:
·
Providing leadership in the strengthening of the MFCC program.
·
Teaching specialized courses in the MFCC program such as child
treatment, family counseling, psychopharmacology, and couples
counseling.
·
Supervising and advising MFCC students.
·
Serving on department and university committees
·
Writing research grants, publishing scholarly articles.
·
Participating in community service.
