Staff Psychologist
Position Description:
Student Health and Counseling Services in the Division of Student Affairs at Grinnell College seeks an 11 month full- time staff psychologist, who will provide the highest level of ethical psychological treatment to students using a brief therapy modality. The position will report to the Lead Psychologist and Director and will work closely with the Coordinator of Internship training to develop a training program and provide supervision to pre-doctoral interns and/or post docs. This staff psychologist position will collaborate with faculty, staff and students to develop and implement appropriate campus/community psycho-educational strategies to increase student academic and personal success. The selected candidate must demonstrate commitment to undergraduate, liberal arts education; to an environment of diversity and inclusion; and to the mission, values and vision of the Division of Student Affairs. Participate actively in departmental and Division of Student Affairs meetings, committees, activities, projects, and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
■ Provide intake assessment, counseling, suicide and on call and other crisis intervention to a student population presenting with a wide range of psychosocial and developmental concerns
■ Participate in debriefing and providing support during a campus-wide crisis.
■ Develops and delivers psycho-educational and other outreach programs related to health and wellness to meet the needs of targeted populations
■ Facilitates workshops, support and process groups to students.
■ Trains and supervises staff, interns, students and peers as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications:
■ Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or closely related field
■ Licensed or License eligible in the state of Iowa
■ Capacity to function as a psychologist in a college setting
■ Knowledge and commitment to the application of the highest standards of legal and ethical principles in psychology and student affairs
■ Well-developed written and oral communication skills
■ Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse community of student, faculty and staff
■ Interest in providing clinical supervision
■ Ability to work after hours and/or on weekends on occasion for outreach, on call crisis intervention or other relevant campus activities
Preferred Qualifications
■ Experience in developing and implementing preventative mental health outreach programming and training
■ Experience developing, promoting and implementing groups
■ Specific training and experience in the area of eating disorder prevention/treatment and/or with substance abuse prevention/treatment with a college population.
