APA Division 52: International Psychology

Provides useful website links to various international psychology associations and organizations.

International Union of Psychological Sciences (IUPsyS)

"The International Union for Psychological Science (IUPsyS) serves to build global interaction among research communities and promote advances in psychological science and technology at the international level." It allows access to the National Academies Press reports in various languages and also provides information resources of the National Academies Press reports specifically for international students.

IACCP-International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology

The purpose of the IACCP is to facilitate communication among persons interested in a diverse range of issues involving the intersection of culture and psychology. IACCP is affiliated with the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS). This website provides internet links to associations/organizations, journals, and other resources related to cross-cultural psychology.

IPSO-International Psychology Students' Organization

IPSO promotes exchanges of scientific knowledge among psychology students and psychologists from all countries, and international research in psychology. The IPSO website offers resources to facilitate the employment process for young psychologists, with special attention for those who are looking for a job abroad or in an international setting. Additionally, it provides psychology students with a forum where they can interact with psychology students and/or professional psychologists from various countries on psychological, educational, ethical and/or social matters, gather support for projects related to psychology and/or education, and become familiar with international professional organizations, editors, and their work.

IAAP Counseling Psychology Division

The IAAP Counseling Psychology Division is a network of counseling psychologists from all over the world to allow the sharing of ideas, resources, support, and collaboration in promoting an international perspective in Counseling Psychology. It offers a Division Newsletter, Award program, Special Projects, and Divisional programming for the International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP). This website also provides job-related information for international students.

ICP: International Council of Psychologists

"The purpose of ICP is to advance psychology and the application of its scientific findings throughout the world. To this end, ICP seeks to strengthen international bonds between psychologists and to widen, deepen, and clarify channels of communication between individual psychologists." This organization provides a number of opportunities for international students, including (a) presentation of the research findings at the ICP conferences (Note: You do not have to go to the conference: you can present your study at the in-absentia poster session and win a prize!), (b) establishing connections with other psychologist from all over the world.

Minnesota International Counseling Institute

"The Minnesota International Counseling Institute (MICI) has been held every two years since 1989, with the goal of bringing together individuals from different regions of the world to promote the cross-cultural exchange of theories, techniques, and research about the counseling, psychology, and education professions. Designed primarily for those involved in counseling practice, training, supervision, and/or research, the institute offers participants an intensive learning experience with international colleagues. Enrollment is limited to maximize the cross-cultural exchange of practices and ideas. The institute will be conducted in the English language." In 2005 the institute will be held on August 10-16.

IVC: International Vanguard of Counsellors


"The International Vanguard of Counsellors is a web-based coalition developed by the NBCC International (National Board for Certified Counselors and Affiliates, Inc) in 2004. The purpose of this coalition is to become a primary contact for counsellors throughout the world. The coalition is open to all interested members of the profession. Registration with the IVC is FREE and will provide users with up-to-date information on the field of Counselling throughout the world. It is open to all counsellors, but is designed specifically for those who are studying the field of counselling in the United States as international students and those who are interested in counselling outside of the United States." This site also provides links to the international counseling associations in various countries of the World as well as information about upcoming events (e.g., workshops, conferences) for international students and counselors.
