Special Task Groups (STGs)

The President and Executive Board of the Society of Counseling Psychology sponsor several Special Task Groups (STGs) throughout the year. We hope that the STGs will provide additional opportunities for you to engage in the Society and that the projects will stimulate new interests.

Suicide Prevention
This Special Task Group ( STG ) is chaired by John Westefeld, and it will be his presidential project when he becomes president of Division 17 at the 2009 APA convention. The specifics of this STG are still being developed; however, at this point activities of this STG will most likely include community outreach at the 2010 APA convention in San Diego, posting of suicide prevention materials on this website, a symposium at the 2010 APA on suicide prevention, and possible suicide prevention training at the 2010 APA convention. Additional details concerning this STG will be posted when the project begins in August, 2009.
